Valencia is a magnificent city that has the most spectacular buildings and amazing modern constructions in the country. As a great example of the modern architecture in Valencia, we can mention the city of Arts and Sciences.

The city of Art and Sciences is considered as one of the most outstanding architectures in Europe. The majority of Spanish people agree that the city of arts and sciences will be Spain's top tourist attraction in the future.

This splendid masterpiece was developed by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava in July 1996 and was designed to celebrate the 21th century arrival. It is located in the dry Turia River of Valencia.

Nowadays, the complex is considered in the world as one of the most phenomenal and imaginative projects of the last millennium. The city of Arts and Sciences is made up of other modern buildings such as El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, L'Hemisfèric, L'Oceanogràfic, L'Umbracle and El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe.


This magnificent construction is an IMAX movie theater and planetarium at the same time. L´Hemisfèric is quite famous in Valencia providing more than 6 educational shows per week. It is also known as the eye of knowledge because it has the shape of an eye; the building was opening for the public in April of 1998.

El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe

This museum has a beautiful and modern architectonic style. The majority of its spaces are used for many short expositions and plenty of cultural events. It has a whale skeleton form with five floors respectively. This is the favorite place for many kids between 7 and 12 years old.


This building is a magnificent master piece that has the most exotic species of plants from different parts of the world. In order to see the complex thoroughly, visitors have to spend more than three hours in the place. L´Umbracle provides spectacular green landscapes with modern architecture. In addition, there are many contemporary sculptures from different artists such as Navarre Francesc Abbot and Yoko Ono.


This spectacular modern construction is the biggest in Europe and it has a big variety of biological collection. L´Oceanogràfic is really famous around the world for supporting educational projects about maritime sciences. There are more than 45.000 specimens of 500 types of animals such as sealions, sharks, penguins, walruses and much more. L´Oceanogràfic represent a natural paradise in middle of the urban city.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is a marvelous building in Valencia. This elegant construction was created to promote the scenic arts and the music. There are four big auditoriums in the complex such as the Magisterial Classroom, Main Room, Amphitheater and Theater. The modern building has 55,000 square meters of extension and 70 meters of height approximately. In addition, this impressive complex is one of the most luxurious and prestigious opera halls in the world.
