Málaga Explore


Málaga is a popular tourist destination, due mainly to its proximity to the Costa del Sol. Málaga also is well know because this city is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. In fact, here you'll find several pieces of art of this "gran malagueño". The Pablo Ruiz Picasso Public Foundation Museum is located in the house in which the artist himself was born, in 1895.
One of the most popular walks in Málaga leads up the hill to the Gibralfaro Castle (a Parador), offering amazing and beautiful views over the city. Next to this castle, you'll find the Alcazaba, a Moorish fortification dating from the 8th century. This was a palace for the Nazarite kings. The 3rd century Roman Theatre lies just underneath the fortress. La Manquita, Málaga’s imposing cathedral, has an interior that has been influenced by the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Walinkg through the the historic quarter, you'll see the most important historic buildings in the city: Calle Larios, plaza de la Constitución, Pasaje Chinitas, calle Fresca, Plaza del Obispo, calle Molina Lario, calle Cister, calle Alcantarilla, plaza de la Merced, calle Granada and calle San Agustín.
