Located on the right bank of the Manzanares River to the west of Madrid, the Casa de Campo is a large park with an area of about 4.000 acres. Due to its extension and its proximity to the center of the city, "La Casa de Campo" is Madrid's main lung. This parks was created by Felipe II and, in 1931, it becomes a public park; beeing these days one of the nicest places to visit by "Madrileños".
The Zoo and Parque de Atracciones, a large amusement park, are found in the southern part. This modern well-organized facility allows you to see about 3,000 animals from five continents. Most are in simulated natural habitats, with moats separating them from the public. This incredible zoo/aquarium complex includes a 520,000-gallon tropical marine aquarium, a dolphinarium, and a parrot club.
A special way to arrive "Casa de Campo" is taking the "Teleférico" which offers an amazing view of the city.
