Barcelona Metro

Barcelona has an excellent public transport system. The Metro (subway) is run by the TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) who also manage the bus network and the FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat) a pre-Metro, part underground, part over-ground system. Six lines (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L11) are managed by TMB, while the other three (L6, L7 and L8) are FGC commuter lines that run through the city. Stations are recognizable by the letter M inside a red diamond-shaped sign. Maps are available from the stations themselves and tourist information offices.
All Metro tickets can be bought inside the station, either from the ticket office or a touch screen vending machine. All these tickets are valid for the FGC and bus systems as well as the Metro. A single (sencillo) ticket costs 1.10€ ($1.25). More economic options include a T-10 at 6€ ($6.90) which offers 10 journeys that can be shared by two or more people or a T-Día for unlimited 24-hour transport in central Barcelona for 4.60€ ($5.30). Also you can buy "Travel Cards" of between 2 and 5 days 8.40-18€ ($9.65-$21).
The trains run until 11pm at weekdays or 1am at weekends.
