Getting Barcelona By Car & Ferry

Barcelona car hire is not necessary if you're planning on staying in the city centre and don't intend to wonder out of the city to areas around. Car hire in Barcelona may be necessary however if you are on business or have special needs. You could also consider Barcelona car hire rental if you're intending to leave Barcelona to see the surrounding area like Girona, Penédes or the Dalí museum (Figueres).

The A-7 motorway links the Mediterranean motorway with France, and provides easy access to the tourist facilities on the Costa Brava and other regions of Girona. In the same way, the A-2 motorway leads to Zaragoza, from where you can go on to Madrid or Bilbao.

If you want to reach Barcelona by ferry, the Port of Barcelona, one of the most active in the Mediterranean, has ferry services to Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Italy, with the possibility of transporting private vehicles. It also functions as port of departure and port of call for many cruise liners.
