Restaurants in Barcelona

Barcelona offers a huge variety of restaurants offering all types of food. Here you can find lots of Indian, Chinese, Lebonese and different ethnic restaurants on Calle Verdi Park and in Placa del Sol. The Bourne area is very good for eating out alhtough the prices are slightly higher. For a traditional Catalan meal (mainly fish and other fresh ingredients) try a moderately priced restaurant such as 'L'Olive'. Make your reservations at "Can Ros" for a tastful paella or "arroz negre".

The streets of Doctor Dou and Carme are becoming the Restaurant Mile of Barcelona, with Mamacafe, DosTrece, Carmelitas, És and Ipoosa. Here you'll eat the "Mediterranean fusion cuisine". However, no matter what you want to eat, because any dish in Barcelona can be combined perfectly with one of many fabulously tasty Spanish wines.

Spanish people have always loved going out for meals, and you will find some of the restaurants crowded. Furthermore, pasta dishes are more popular here than elsewhere in Spain. Lunch here is served from 14.00h until 15.30h, although the typical lunch break for office workers is from 14.00h until 16.00h. Tipping is expected but normally the 7% IVA charge is included in the bill, so tips are usually no more than a euro or two at most.

Some of the best restaurants around Barcelona are:

Restaurante Can Fabes
Sant Celoni-Sant Joan 6

Just a 50 km. drive away from Barcelona, Can Fabes is considered to be one of Barcelona's two top restaurants (the other is San Pau).

Restaurante San Pau

One of Spain's top and most international women chefs, Carme Ruscadella's restaurant San Pau is set in a villa overlooking the sea and is a perfect example of how to create unique dishes by combining her imagination with traditional Catalan ingredients.

Restaurante El Raco d´en Freixa
Sant Elies, 22
Tel. 932 097 559
Ramon Freixa, another top chef, leads this restaurant and if you want to try one of Barcelona's elite establishments, this is probably the best as far as the price:quality ratio is concerned. Freixa's speciality is blending modern cooking techniques with traditional Catalan cooking, and the result is a selection of marvellous tastes and inventions.

Restaurante Hispania
(Arenys de Mar)
