Barcelona Transport

If you come to Barcelona by car your best bet is to leave your vehicle in a car park and enjoy your visit by bus, metro or taxi. We recommend you use or public transport or bicycles in order to get around the city, because Barcelona has terrible traffic conditions. The public transport system is excellent and you'll find taxis easily (a green light on the roof means the taxi is for hire). The metro is probably the swiftest and easiest way to get around in inner areas, and buses or suburban trains to get a little further out. However, another way to know Barcelona and its surroundings is by bicycle. Many people zip around on bicycles in Barcelona. If you hire a bike, use bike lanes because the traffic is dangerous. Barri Gòtic and surrounding areas are ideal for walking, but you'll probably need to use public transport to reach further-flung sites like La Sagrada Família and Parc Güell more efficiently.
