Barcelona Nighlife

No Barcelona Tourist Guide would be complete without at least some mention of the city's spectacular nightlife. Barcelona is widely considered one of Europe’s great party cities and deservedly so. This city has a very good nightlife, simply because there are lots of foreigners, students, and tourists. Everywhere around the city are found discotheques, clubs and dance halls. For those who prefer to enjoy any kind of music and just talk, the best thing to do is head off to one of the city's many live music clubs, offering almost daily shows in every style, from jazz and blues to African music, classical and flamenco.
The best time to go out is on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and most of the times is not necessary to pay an entrance fee. Keep in mind that as everything else in Barcelona, nightlife sets off a few hours later. It also does not make any sense to go to a club in Barcelona before 12:00 pm, so you should start your evening out in one of the numerous bars or cafes in Barcelona before going to a club. The legal drinking age in Barcelona is 16 years and the price of tipple ranges from €1 for a small beer or glass of wine to €5 for something stronger, such as a rum and coke, depending also on the type of establishment.
Barcelona is home to the "Sónar Music Festival" which takes place every year in June . The "Sónar Music Festival" is an electronica music festival split into three days with two main events on each day (Sónar By Night and Sónar by Day). Sónar by day is held just off Les Rambles, whereas Sonar by night takes place in a complex just outside the main city.
Barri Gňtic & Las Ramblas
The Barri Gotic is a lovely district for an evening stroll. Furthermore, the combination of the central location, the atmosphere of medieval Spain and the many tourists and newcomers make this an ideal area to start with. There are a lot of clubs, bars and pubs in the gothic area. This is where you'll find one of the most popular clubs in town, Rita Blue in Plaza Agusti. Try also "Bosque de los Fades" (The forest of fairies) which is a small pub/café near the wax museum at the end of Las Ramblas.
L'Eixample
L'Eixample is another excellent place for night owls, although it is more popular with locals. This neighbourhood is north of the city centre. Plenty of great bars and clubs here, but they are scattered around somewhat, mostly on the western side. L'Eixample also has lots of good pubs and clubs along with a thriving gay scene. Passeig de Gracia is another popular haunt for gays.
Maremagnum
Maremagnum, a waterfront shopping center, is Barcelona's biggest mall - half shops - half clubs. By night the many clubs, pubs and bars take over. And, by day, Maremagnum makes for a nice stroll with friends or family over the narrow wooden walkway from the end of the Rambla. The mall has 12 cinemas showing original version films with sub-titles.
Port Olímpic
A stretch of clubs in the Olympic yachting marina, the ultra new Port Olimpic is another good spot for those who like the good life, with its post-modern style restaurants, bars and discos. The yacht marina is a great place to be on summer evenings when many of the bars and restaurants set up tables and chairs on outdoor terraces. The Port Olimpic is full of pubs with a low cost trousit profile. Spanish & Intrenational Music. All the area close at 3.00 am.
