Madrid is an exciting city to explore any time of the year because it boasts vivacity, energy, a vibrant nightlife, and lots of cultural activities. Madrid combines the tradition and modernity with places that conserve the ancient styles, neighborhoods and archaeological remains; and the presence of impressive modern buildings around the city; the following are two places you cannot miss when exploring Madrid.

Paseo de la Castellana


The Paseo de la Castellana is one part of several walking areas that Madrid boasts; it goes from outskirts of Madrid to the heart of the city, specifically to plaza Colon, where it changes its name to Paseo de Recoletos. The Paseo de la Castellana or just the Castellana is the largest avenue of Madrid and it was created in 18th century; a great way where one can drive, walk, relax, or visit any of the several banking and financial buildings located along it.

In this sector, the city of Madrid features many important buildings such as the Bank of Spain, National library, The Statue of Columbus, The Gate of Europe on the entrance to La Castellana; and more. You can enjoy here also some relaxing time with the fountains, sculptures and many trees along the avenue. Itís a place you cannot fail to visit.

Salamanca


Salamanca is a province of Madrid, located on the western part of Spain; Salamanca is famous for the beautiful and impressive buildings and the environment, as you might probably have heard, the University of Salamanca, the oldest University of Spain is located here and represents the engine that moves everything in the city. As you arrive to the city; youíll see a breathtaking landscape, with trees and pastures everywhere.

Salamanca is also a popular place to learn Spanish language; because itís said that the pure Spanish is spoken here; if you visit the main square of Salamanca youíll see that itís the living room of the city; most people gather there so youíll have enormous opportunities for practicing your English and meeting new people or even find people you know.
