It is the capital city of the province with the same name in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is located along the Gulf of Cadiz coast, at the confluence of the Odiel and Tinto rivers. It’s the most important city between Lisboa and Malaga. Its total area is 149 km2 (57.5 sq mi)
The city is bordered on the northwest by San Bartolomé de la Torre, on the north by Gibraleón, on the northeast by San Juan del Puerto, on the west by Aljaraque and Odiel river, on the east by Moguer, Palos de la Frontera and Tinto river, on the southwest by El Rompido and Atlantic Ocean, on southeast by Palos de la Frontera and the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by Punta Umbria and the Atlantic Ocean.
