The Banys Arabs is an ancient building with the most impressive Romanesque architecture; the establishment was built in 1194 but later the construction suffered serious damages due to the siege of 1283. Fortunately in 1294, the building was repaired. However, the Banys Sarabs was closed during the 15th century. Several years later, the building was reused as a kitchen, pantry and laundry by the Capuchin convent. In 1929 this establishment was declared as a public patrimony and its restoration took place again.

This ancient and interesting building is one of the principal attractions in Girona. Plenty of students visit the place each year in order to learn about its ancient people and its architectonic style. There are two principal rooms in the interior of the building; the hot bath (caldarium) and the cold bath (frigidarium).
